INGWE AFRICA (LEOPARD)

No. 0047
August 2001

One in a collection of six African animals done in the Mola Style on a shaded hand dyed picture frame like background. Each quilt is finished in matching paw print quilting.

The leopard (Panthera pardus) is one of the four ‘big cats’ of the genus Panthera. It is also the fourth largest big cat in the world. Despite its size, this largely nocturnal predator is difficult to see in the wild. The best location to see leopards in Africa is in the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve in South Africa, where leopards are habituated to safari vehicles and are seen on a daily basis at very close range.

Part of a private collection in the USA.
